Study on Ultrasonic Extraction of Kerogen from Huadian Oil Shale by Solvents
نویسندگان
چکیده
Ultrasonic extraction of kerogen derived by acid treatment of Huadian oil shale is performed using an organic solvent. The most effective solvent is the 60:40 (wt%) mixture of chloroform and carbon disulfide, and the suitable mass ratio of the demineralized oil shale to solvent is 1:20. The oil yield by ultrasonic extraction can reach 15.6% based on the demineralized oil shale, compared with a Fischer Assay oil content of 18.9%. The optimum operating parameters as determined by the orthogonal test are: 60 kHz ultrasonic frequency, 200 W ultrasonic power, 30 min extraction time, and 313 K extraction temperature. Through the gas chromatographicmass spectrometric analysis, the most plentiful compounds in the extracts are low molecular weight alicyclic hydrocarbons, accounting for about 68.3% of total species. The physicochemical properties of the extracts indicated that these can act as an important complementary resource for the production of diesel after appropriate processing.

Oil shale is a kind of potential alternative energy source for petroleum and has attracted the attention of energy researchers all over the world. Borehole hydraulic mining has more prominent advantages than both conventional open-pit mining and underground mining. It is very important to attempt to use the borehole hydraulic mining method to exploit underground oil shale. The nozzle is the key...
متن کاملExperiment and Neural Network Model of Primary Fragmentation of Oil Shale in Fluidized Bed
In this paper, the effect of fluidized bed temperature on primary fragmentation of Huadian oil shale was investigated experimentally in thermal state using a small-scale fluidized bed with N2 as fluidizing gas. The fluidized-bed temperatures changed from 600 °C to 1000 °C. Experimental results indicate that the fluidized bed temperature is an important factor of primary fragmentation of oil sha...
متن کاملClasses of organic molecules targeted by a methanogenic microbial consortium grown on sedimentary rocks of various maturities
Organic-rich shales are populated by methanogenic consortia that are able to degrade the fossilized organic matter into methane gas. To identify the organic fraction effectively degraded, we have sequentially depleted two types of organic-rich sedimentary rocks, shale, and coal, at two different maturities, by successive solvent extractions to remove the most soluble fractions (maltenes and asp...
متن کاملConverting oil shale to liquid fuels: energy inputs and greenhouse gas emissions of the Shell in situ conversion process.
Oil shale is a sedimentary rock that contains kerogen, a fossil organic material. Kerogen can be heated to produce oil and gas (retorted). This has traditionally been a CO2-intensive process. In this paper, the Shell in situ conversion process (ICP), which is a novel method of retorting oil shale in place, is analyzed. The ICP utilizes electricity to heat the underground shale over a period of ...

Nuclear Renewable Oil Shale Systems (NROSS) are a class of large Hybrid Energy Systems in which nuclear reactors provide the primary energy used to produce shale oil from kerogen deposits and also provide flexible, dispatchable electricity to the grid. Kerogen is solid organic matter trapped in sedimentary shale, and the formations of kerogen oil shale in the western United States are the large...
